Fager’s Island

When the sun starts to sink over the bay, head to Fager’s Island on 60th Street, one of Ocean City’s best-loved spots for a sunset drink. Set right on the bayside, its deck gives you a front-row seat as the sky turns gold and pink over the water.

Fager’s is famous for a sunset tradition that dates back to its opening in 1975: as the sun goes down, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture plays across the deck, timed to the moment it slips below the horizon. It’s a little bit of Ocean City magic that’s well worth planning your evening around.

After sunset, the atmosphere picks up with live bands and DJs on the deck, making it a fun place to carry on the night. There’s also a restaurant and raw bar if you’d like to make an evening of it with dinner by the water.

Best time to visit: Arrive about an hour before sunset on a summer evening to find a good spot on the deck. Entertainment changes through the year, so check the Fager’s Island website to see what’s on during your stay.
